POTS symptom diary: what to track

A POTS symptom diary records, each day, your symptoms with a score from 0 to 10, your triggers, and what helped. Bring the pattern to your doctor rather than describing it from memory. Your doctor will tell you which measurements, such as heart rate or blood pressure, they want you to take.

What to write each day

  • Symptoms: dizziness, palpitations, fatigue, brain fog, nausea. Score each 0 to 10.
  • Position and timing: after standing, after meals, in the morning.
  • Triggers: heat, long standing, a hot shower, poor sleep.
  • Fluids, salt, medicines: as your doctor advised.
  • What helped.
  • Measurements your doctor asked for, with the time.
